A mi entender, sólo existen cinco formas de admirar las flores colgantes (1)
de las fuchsias: - Agacharse - Plantar en un parterre muy elevado - Plantar en cestos colgantes - Formar arbolitos (standards) - Mirar esta foto. |

| In my advice, there are only five ways to

preferencia a los standards. Los cestos colgantes son muy atractivos pero resultan
demasiado exigentes en mi clima (necesitarían riegos muy frecuentes). Obviamente descarto
agacharme demasiado a menudo. Un standard se forma con mucha facilidad. Los principales riesgos son mecánicos. Derivan de la fragilidad del tronco principal (necesita un tutor durante varios años) y de la inestabilidad mecánica si están en maceta (hay que atar los tutores para que no vuelquen). A continuación explico algunos de mis trucos. |
In my case I
prefer standards. The hanging baskets are very attractive but they become very exacting in
the hot summers of my place, needing to be watered too often. Obviously I discard
to bow down every time. A standard can be grown very easily. The risks are mechanic. They derive from the weakness of the main stem (it needs a tutor during several years) and from the lack of mechanical stability if they are in a pot (you need to tie the tutor somewhere to avoid the pot tilting). I explain hereafter some of my tricks. |

A mis amigos les regalo los no muy altos, a no ser que sean ya expertos en su cuidado (cuanto más alto, más riesgo hay de que sufra un accidente mecánico). | The decision about the final height has to be taken according to the destiny of the plant. I give away to my friends the shorter ones unless they are experts (the higher the standard is, the higher the risk of a mechanical accident). |
