En la primera imagen un esqueje recién cortado.

En la segunda aparecen los cortes que se harán para prepararlo.

En la tercera imagen se ve que se ha dejado un rabillo por debajo del nudo inferior. El esqueje es muy pequeño y el rabillo sirve de estabilizador.

En la cuarta imagen se ve que el nudo queda muy poco por debajo de la superficie del substrato.
The first picture shows a fresh untrimmed cutting as it comes from the mother plant.

The second image shows the trimming points.

The third image shows a tail below the knot. The cutting is very small and this tail serves as a stabilizer so the cutting does not move.

The fourth image shows that the knot is buried slightly below the substrate surface.
Aquí vemos de nuevo otro esqueje tal como fue tomado y abajo los puntos de corte para su preparación.

Observar que las hojas superiores demasiado grandes se cortan sin ningún problema para reducir su tamaño.

Estas operaciones hay que hacerlas con rapidez para no tener el esqueje demasiado tiempo evaporando agua.
Here again we see at the top a fresh untrimmed and unrooted cutting and below the trimming points.

Plase note that the two upper leaves are too large so their size can be reduced by trimming them too without any trouble.

These operations are to be done quickly in order to avoid having the cutting loosing too much water.

En la foto superior se tienen en remojo los tacos Jiffy y se aprovecha el tiempo escribiendo los nombres en las etiquetas. Observése que las bolsas no se han abierto todavía. In the upper photo a few Jiffy plugs have been put in water and the waiting time is employed in writing the names on the labels. Please note that the bags have not been opened.
Después de un pedido a UK de esquejes frescos sin enraizar, enviados dentro de una bolsa de plástico hermética, se recibieron a las 53 horas de su envío en las buenas condiciones que ilustran las dos fotos de abajo. Upon an order of fresh unrooted Fuchsia cuttings to UK, mailed inside a hermetic plastic bag, they were received 53 hours after being sent in the good condition illustrated below.

Mi jardín está en una segunda residencia de modo que no los podía plantar enseguida. Por ello los preparé y los puse con sus rabillos en agua. My garden is in a second residence so I couldn't plant them straight away so I put them with their tips in water after trimming them.

En el caso del esqueje de la izquierda las hojas eran demasiado grandes y se recortaron como indica en la foto de la derecha. In the case of the cutting of the left side the leaves were too large so they were trimmed as it is shown in the photo of the right.

Entonces los esquejes se pusieron con sus extremos en agua hasta el día siguiente en que se volverían a colocar dentro de sus bolsas para trasladarlos a la otra residencia y plantarlos Then the cuttings were put with their tips in water until the next day when they would be put again inside the bags and transported to the other residence where they would be planted.

Una semana después, a pesar de que la mínima de la semana fue -1 ºC, todos los esquejes presentan una buena apariencia. Se siguen dejando cubiertos con la campana de cristal unos días más. En este caso de frío estarán un total de 3 semanas, con un segundo rociado de fungicida a los 10 días. Normalmente permanecen cubiertos 2 semanas.
One week later, despite the minimum week temperature was 30 ºF, all the cuttings show a good appearance. They will remain covered with the glass bell a few more days. In this case of low temperatures they will remain covered during 3 weeks, with a second fungicide spray after 10 days. Normally they remain covered 2 weeks.
